College football player shot in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An Auburn University football player is recovering after he was shot last week in uptown Charlotte, according to a police report obtained Monday morning by Queen City News.
Officers with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to calls regarding the incident around 11:45 a.m. in a parking lot by 505 East 6th Street in Uptown.
24-year-old DeAngelo 'Trill' Carter, was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and was transported to an area medical center with life-threatening injuries.
Carter told The Athletic that he is "OK" and that he was hospitalized for a few hours after the shooting. He will not need surgery.
Carter is a defensive lineman at Auburn having entered his sixth season in college football with the Tigers following stints with the Texas Longhorns and Minnesota Gophers.
Carter played in 9 games this season recording 4 sacks. The Tigers finished the season 5-7 (2-6 in the SEC).
