COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) - The chairperson of South Carolina's parole board has died.
The South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services (SCDPPPS) announced Monday the unexpected death of Kim Frederick, chair of the SC Board of Paroles and Pardons.
Frederick was originally appointed to the board by Governor Henry McMaster in 2017.
"Ms. Frederick upheld the values of honesty, accountability and a deep commitment toexcellence as she served on the SC Board of Paroles and Pardons." said Chadwick Gambrell, acting director of the SCDPPPS. "She will be profoundly missed."
Prior to serving on the parole board, Frederick worked a program coordinator for the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and was on the South Carolina Juvenile Parole Board for several years, including as chairperson.
