Salvation Army fundraising falls behind goal during 'especially tough' Christmas season
Dec 17, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - The Salvation Army in Baton Rouge is asking for the public’s help to meet its $100,000 fundraising goal, with $58,000, as of Tuesday, Dec. 17, still needed in the final two weeks of the season.
The organization says its Red Kettle Campaign aims to raise $80,000 this year, while its Empty Stocking Campaign has a $20,000 online fundraising goal. The Red Kettle Campaign, which launched in November, is the Salvation Army’s primary annual fundraiser.
“This year has been especially tough for many individuals and families in our community,” said Captain Brian Hicks of The Salvation Army. “With challenges like food, gas, and utilities, we continue to see an increased need for our services. As we approach the final stretch of the season, we are hopeful the community will rally behind us to ensure we can continue offering vital assistance to those in need.”
Donations can be made in person by looking for bell ringers outside of stores through Tuesday, Dec. 24, or online here.
