GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — An electronic device is the possible cause of a fire that damaged four units and left $100,000 in damages at several Goldsboro townhomes Sunday night, officials said.
The fire displaced six people and was reported just before 6:20 p.m. at a seven-unit building of townhomes at 2003 Peachtree St., according to the Goldsboro Fire Department.
When crews got to the scene, they saw flames coming from the second floor and through the roof, a Goldsboro news release said.
The fire was reported in apartment B and flames were contained to two units, officials said.

Patrick Jones of Raleigh was at a townhome to visit his mother, who lives a couple of units down from the fire.
Jones said he checked the burning apartment and no one came to the door -- but then he knocked on apartment C.
“There was an older elderly man in apartment C. There was nothing but straight smoke behind him. So, I just helped him get out of the house," Jones said.
After that Jones began "knocking on everybody’s door.”
One minor injury was reported to a Goldsboro firefighter.
Four of the seven units in one building were damaged by the fire, leaving a child and five adults without a place to live.
“It put me in a situation where, if nobody’s in here, I at least want to get everybody else out of the building, because there’s a bit of possibility it could’ve caught the whole building on fire," Jones said.
The woman living in apartment B was not there when the fire started but she told CBS 17 she lost all of her possessions.
The building -- one of three at the location -- is valued at $573,000 and damage was estimated at $100,000, the Goldsboro Fire Department said.
"At this time, the fire is listed as accidental, possible electronic device," Goldsboro officials said in a news release.
