With all the votes counted once more, it’s still a win for Guillermo “Willy” Silva. Jurupa Valley’s mayor lost two votes, but still defeated challenger Lisa Lane by 14 votes — 3,067 to 3,053 — in a recount of Nov. 5 election results for the District 2 seat on the Jurupa Valley City Council. California law allows any registered voter to request a recount within five days of certification, with the requesting party on the hook for the recount’s cost. A Lane supporter requested the hand-tallied recount, which costs $6,162 per day to conduct. It started Wednesday, Dec. 11. A Jurupa Valley resident since 1988, Silva was first elected to the council in 2020. He sought reelection to a four-year term on the five-member council.
