TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after two teenagers were injured in a single-car crash Monday evening. Police responded to 340 King Road around 6:40 p.m. following reports of a vehicle colliding with a utility pole. Officers arrived to find a heavily damaged car, but the driver, a 16-year-old boy, and the passenger, a 15-year-old girl, had managed to free themselves before help arrived. Both were taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Preliminary findings indicate the car was traveling east on King Road when it left the roadway for reasons still under investigation.
