NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It is almost time for Santa Claus to come to town, but if you want to talk to him before he makes his trek around the world from the North Pole, OnStar is giving you a chance to talk to jolly, old St. Nick. Even though Santa Claus is busy getting all the gifts and his reindeer ready for Christmas, he's still got time for the children around the world. Nearly 700 gingerbread houses at ‘Gingerbread Lane’ exhibit at Riverwalk Outlets "It is an opportunity for people to get in touch with Santa Claus. You can talk to Santa directly to find out if you are on the nice list, you can share your wish list, update your wish list and even get a Christmas story read to you from Santa," said Meghan Pastoria, Manager, Contact Center of OnStar Emergency Services and Crisis Assist. All of this is part of OnStar's "Follow Santa" campaign. "If you have a Cadillac, Buick, GMC or Chevrolet vehicle equipped with an active OnStar package, then you can press the blue button to get Santa's location," she said. "If you have an OnStar Guardian app, click on Santa app and see where Santa is in the world. We collaborate with NORAD (North America Defense Command) to provide real-time updates," she said. A sweet car! The gingerbread streetcar at The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans "It just brings that joy to see that little twinkle of joy in children's eyes by being able to connect them directly to Santa. Just another way for him to spread his magic around the world," Pastoria said. OnStar is also giving back this holiday season. For every Santa location request they get, they'll donate $1 up to $30,000 dollars to the American Red Cross. OnStar is a driving service that offers in-vehicle safety, security, emergency services, and navigation.
