One person was hospitalized after a house fire near Cherry Creek State Park early Monday morning, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 14100 block of East Progress Way in Arapahoe County south of Aurora at around 1:15 a.m., agency officials said in a post on X.
One person was taken to the hospital, but fire officials did not have further details about the nature of their injuries. One cat was rescued from the home and given oxygen by medics, and one cat is missing.
The fire was under control by 3 a.m. and the cause is still under investigation, South Metro officials said.
