SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Interstate 805 is back open Monday following an hours-long closure due to a crash Sunday that led to spillage of a hazardous material, according to CalTrans. The crash was first reported just after 11 p.m. Sunday near the I-805 connector with State Route 52. Details about what led up to the collision are unknown, although CHP logs indicate it involved a semi-truck and a sedan. Whether anyone in either vehicle sustained injuries is unknown. The crash left a significant amount of debris, including what appeared to have been some kind of oil, on the freeway, leading law enforcement to implement a hard closure to all but the far left lane just before 11:30 p.m. The closure lasted until 1 p.m. on Monday, according to Caltrans. An additional lane was reopened by CHP around 8 a.m. as crews worked to finish clearing the hazardous material from the roadway. A SigAlert was in effect during this time for significant traffic congestion in the area. The congestion appeared to be backed up along I-805 for several miles during the Monday commute, stretching down past the Interstate 8 overpass. At the peak of morning traffic, vehicles were moving through the area at estimated speeds of 11 to 13 miles per hour. As of 12:25 p.m. Monday, all lanes of northbound I-805 at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard have reopened.
