Fort Eisenhower shooting victim identified, Army National Guard soldier charged with murder

FORT EISENHOWER, Ga. (WJBF) - Fort Eisenhower released the identity of the victim in a shooting that occurred Dec. 14, as the U.S. Department of Justice announced new details regarding a soldier charged with murder.
According to officials, the victim of Saturday’s incident as U.S. Army Sgt. Andre S. Stewart Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn.
"Stewart joined the Army in 2019 and served on active duty as a Human Resource Specialist," a press release from Fort Eisenhower read Monday, Dec. 16. "He later transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserve in 2023 and was a member of the 400th Military Police Brigade, Fort Meade, Md."
Natravien Landry, 25, of Abbeville, Louisiana, is charged with one count of murder, according to Jill E. Steinberg, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. Landry appeared in court on Monday for an initial appearance hearing.
According to court documents, Landry allegedly visited a residence in post housing at Fort Eisenhower early Saturday morning, Dec. 14 of a woman with whom Landry shares a child. Landry is accused of "assaulting and shooting a man who was with the woman in her residence" before leaving.
Landry was arrested south of Atlanta on I-85 during a traffic stop by the Meriwether County, Ga. Sheriff's Office three hours later. Deputies reportedly recovered a 9 mm pistol during the stop. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal's Service and was transported him to the Lincoln County Jail, where he awaits further court proceedings.
“Our Fort Eisenhower team suffered a tragedy this weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with a grieving family. I remain focused on supporting anybody impacted – directly or indirectly – by this incident,” said Maj. Gen. Ryan Janovic, Commanding General Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Eisenhower. “I commend the swift action of our entire team and our community partners, who together are committed to safety, security, and care for those in pain.”
This case is being investigated by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
Fort Eisenhower does not plan to release any further information following the active investigation.
