FEMA deadline soon for Chaves County flood victims

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced the deadline to apply for assistance for those affected by the October 19-20 storms and flooding in Chaves County. Those who want assistance need to request it by January 2, 2025.
Two FEMA claims events coming to northern New Mexico for fire, flood victims
There is no cost to apply for assistance and the grants do not have to be repaid. FEMA assistance is nontaxable and will not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, or other federal and state benefits.
Residents can apply one of four ways:
Visit the Roswell Disaster Recovery Center, operated by the state of New Mexico and FEMA at the Roswell Mall in Roswell. 4501 North Main St. Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
