CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 48-year-old Chesterfield County man is dead a week after a driver hit him in a Midlothian crosswalk. At about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department were called to the area of Winterview Parkway and Winterfield Crossing for report of a crash involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, offices found 48-year-old Dong J. Hwang in a crosswalk on Winterfield Crossing with life-threatening injuries. Hwang was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A week after the crash, on Saturday, Dec. 14, he died as a result of his injuries. According to police, the driver of a 2023 GMC Sierra was turning left from Winterview Parkway West onto southbound Winterfield Crossing when they hit Hwang, who was in the crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene. 8News asked if charges for said driver were possible.
