SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a house fire on Amos Street in South Kingstown on Monday.
Union Fire District Chief Steve Pinch said the firefighter had burns to his legs, but he's expected to be OK.
When crews first arrived on scene, they were met with heavy flames coming out of the third floor.
"[The fire] was a little tough to get to ... but luckily it stayed contained to one side of the building," Pinch said.

A second alarm was called with crews from Narragansett, North Kingstown, Richmond and Hope Valley helping to put out the fire.
Pinch said the building was still standing because of the actions taken by the first firefighters on scene.
"It was difficult conditions, and they made a nice aggressive attack that held the fire to where it is," Pinch explained.
The home sustained significant smoke and water damage.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire also delayed some South Kingstown students from getting home on time. In an email to the community, the district said in part, "school buses may be delayed by at least 15 minutes this afternoon due to a fire on Amos Street. Buses must use alternate routes."
