WASHINGTON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Three people are dead and three others were hospitalized following a crash in Washington Parish.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, Louisiana State Police Troopers were called to the scene of a crash on Louisiana Highway 25 near Stafford Road.

The investigation revealed that 42-year-old Tequilla Santee was headed south on the highway in a Chevy Tahoe just as 18-year-old Logan Schmalz in Chevy Silverado was headed north.
Troopers said for unknown reasons, Schmalz crossed the center lane, striking the Tahoe head-on.
Santee was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, 11-year-old Daniya Carter and 3-year-old Dylan Wilson reportedly were not.
All three were pronounced dead on the scene. Two other passengers of the Tahoe were also critically injured along with Schmalz who was not wearing a seatbelt.
They were taken to a hospital for treatment but an update on their condition was not given.
The crash remains under investigation as toxicology results are pending.

"Properly wearing a seat belt dramatically reduces the risk of injury or death in a crash. Louisiana law requires everyone in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, to be buckled up at all times. Seat belts save lives, and taking this simple step can make the difference between life and death," said LSP Troop L.
The investigation findings will be forwarded to the 22nd Judicial District Court Attorney's Office for consultation of criminal and/or traffic violations pending its completion.
