Dense fog possible overnight, cooler air moves in later this week
Dec 16, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The start of the week will bring mild temperatures and patchy fog, with bigger changes expected later.
Overnight, lows will drop to the upper 50s, and areas of fog could develop after midnight, especially near bodies of water. Some spots may see dense fog by Tuesday morning, so drivers should use caution during early commutes.
Tuesday will be warm once again, with highs in the low to mid 70s. Fog could linger in the morning but should clear as the day progresses. A weak cold front will pass through Wednesday, bringing mostly sunny skies and temperatures near 70. Any rain will likely be limited to areas north of Interstate 10, and significant rainfall isn’t expected.
The front will usher in cooler, drier air by late Wednesday. Highs on Thursday and Friday will dip to the low 60s, with overnight lows in the upper 40s and low 40s.
A second push of cooler air arrives Friday, making for a chilly weekend. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will struggle to climb above the mid-50s, with overnight lows in the 30s and lower 40s.
While freezing temperatures are not expected, it will feel more like winter as the week wraps up. Warmer conditions should return early next week.
