MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The McNairy County Sheriff's Office has announced the funeral arrangements for Rick Finley, a sergeant who was shot and killed in the line of duty over the weekend. A memorial service for Sgt. Finley will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Church located at 877 West Cherry Avenue in Selmer, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ‘A heart of gold’: Community honors slain Selmer police officer Funeral services for Sgt. Finley will begin at 4 p.m., after visitation. The sheriff's office says there will not be a graveside ceremony. On Wednesday, the day before his service, the McNairy County Sheriff's Office will hold a Sea of Blue in honor of Sgt. Finley "as a symbol of respect and gratitude for his dedicated service and sacrifice." The Sea of Blue will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and will be held at the Robert K. Lee Justice Complex located at 300 Industrial Park Drive in Selmer, Tenn. The sheriff's office says any and all law enforcement and first responder personnel are invited to attend. Rick Finley, who was serving as a police officer with the Selmer Police Department, was responding to a suspicious person call when he was shot to death by a suspect on Saturday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Daniel Holmes, was then shot and killed by a second responding officer. Sgt. Finley worked part-time for the Selmer Police Department and full-time for the McNairy County Sheriff's Office.
