Indiana congresswoman named to energy, commerce committee

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Officials with the office of U.S. Rep. Erin Houchin, R-Ind. District 9 recently announced that Houchin will be appointed to a new committee starting in the 119th Congress.
According to a news release from Houchin's office, Houchin has been appointed to the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the 119th Congress. This committee oversees energy policy, healthcare, telecommunications and economic development.
Currently, Houchin serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Education and Workforce Committee, as well as the following subcommittees:
Subcommittee on capital markets
Subcommittee on digital assets, financial technology and inclusion
Subcommittee on housing and insurance
Subcommittee on higher education and workforce development
Subcommittee on health, employment, labor and pensions.

“It’s an honor to join the House Energy and Commerce Committee,” Houchin said in the release. “Indiana has a diverse energy sector, a thriving manufacturing industry, and leadership in healthcare innovation. We are eager to get to work advancing policies that secure our energy future, improve healthcare access, and support economic growth.”
As a member of the Indiana State Senate, Houchin served on the Utilities and the Commerce and Technology committees and helped lead one of the nation's first broadband expansion bills and advocated to help strengthen infrastructure and boost regional economic development.
