NDGF shares two ice fishing announcements
Dec 16, 2024
NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — The North Dakota Game and Fish Department (NDGF) has two announcements regarding ice fishing.
The first is a fun event called "Take Someone New Ice Fishing," and it's a challenge that runs from December 16 until March 31, 2025.
It's designed to encourage more people to participate in ice fishing in the state. All you have to do is invite someone new who has never been ice fishing and log your story here.
Those who log their stories have the chance to win a fish house that's been donated by Runnings. Only one random winner will be chosen.

Winter fishing regulations apply, and you can find those here.
The other announcement is about fish house regulations.
NDGF wants to remind ice fishers that fish houses that are left unoccupied on waters need to be made out of materials that can float.
While occupied fish houses don't need identification, unoccupied fish houses need to have an equipment registration number that's issued by the NDGF or the owner's name (with an address or phone number) displayed outside.
Fish houses also cannot be closer than 50 feet in any direction to another fish house without the consent of the other owner.
Unoccupied fish houses need to be removed from the water after midnight on March 15.
