Driver cited for going 90 mph at DUI checkpoint: Bakersfield PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A driver allegedly doing 90 miles per hour near a DUI checkpoint on Ming Avenue was cited and had their car impounded Friday evening, police said.
Police held the checkpoint in the 8300 block of Ming Avenue, near Gosford Road between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.
1071 vehicles were screened by officers during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in southwest Bakersfield. Of the driver's screened, five drivers were cited for driving under the influence, including one driver who was cited for a warrant for DUI.

Police say another ten were cited while driving unlicensed, including one driver stopped for driving over 90 miles per hour. The driver was also cited for reckless driving, according to police.
The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
