ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The case of a man whose father's dead body was brought to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office is being pushed to grand jury.
Richard Fluegel Jr. was scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court and Ossian Town Court on Monday morning. He was supposed to answer to the charges of tampering with physical evidence in Geneseo and second-degree murder and first-degree criminal use of a firearm in Ossian.
The suspect's father, Richard Fluegel Sr., went missing earlier this month after leaving Irondequoit. His car was found at a Tops parking lot in Dansville, but they still couldn't him.
On December 9, the Livingston County 911 Center received a call that someone wanted to turn in a dead body. Deputies believe that call came from Fluegel Jr.'s lawyer. That phone call led to law enforcement investigating the parking lot of the County Government Center, where the body of Fluegel Sr. was found.
According to investigators, Fluegel Sr.'s body had gunshot wounds. Multiple search warrants led to a weapon being found at a structure on Bonner Road in Ossian. Deputies believe that the location was the scene of the homicide. Furthermore, it was alleged that Fluegel Jr. grew marijuana there.
