PLAINVILLE, Mass. (WWLP) - One man is dead following a house fire in Plainville Friday afternoon. Fire destroys over a dozen Connecticut businesses The Plainville Fire Department states that crews were called to 61 School Street for a reported house fire at approximately 3:08 p.m. Firefighters arrived within minutes and found a heavy fire in the single-family, ranch-style home. When firefighters entered the home, they found the sole occupant of the home, 68-year-old Mark Beyersdorfer, who was unable to escape the fire and died due to his injuries. There were no other injuries reported. The fire was put out and a preliminary investigation indicates the fire was accidental. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Plainville Fire Department, Plainville Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney's Office. Crews from North Attleborough, Foxborough, Mansfield, Bellingham, Norfolk, Wrentham, Franklin, and Cumberland, Rhode Island were sent to assist in putting out the fire.
