[1] Teenager accused of killing family at rural Belen home Saturday - Early Saturday morning, state police say 16-year-old Diego Leyva surrendered to Valencia County Sheriff's Deputies while extremely intoxicated. Officials say Leyva called dispatch and told them he killed his family. According to NMSP, the victims were Leyva's parents and siblings. State police say the four appear to have died from gunshot wounds. Leyva was booked into a juvenile detention facility and facing four counts of murder.
[2] Parking enforcement, bike trails, and shopping carts: ABQ city council preview - Monday is the final Albuquerque city council meeting of the year and councilors are set to vote on several bills. One item on that list is a resolution that would create more bike trials in the downtown area. Another bill on the agenda is the removal of shopping carts on the streets.
[3] Less windy for now & slightly cooler temperatures - Afternoon temperatures will be mostly above normal. A briefly warmer air-mass will return tomorrow, as despite a couple of slight cooldowns ahead being accompanied by lighter winds, generally warmer weather will continue for at least the next several days
[4] Santa Fe city council approve agreement with Aspect Studios - Following a unanimous decision by city councilors this week to sell land, which sits on the former site of the Santa Fe College, to the film production company, Aspect Studios. This marks a step toward creating what developers are calling a “studio village”. According to the city, the “studio village” is expected to be a hub for creativity, with plans to build new sound stages- along with other film production facilities- as well as add commercial and residential spaces.
[5] Red River ski area opens new ski lift - The Red River Ski and Summer Area has opened a new Copper Chair Ski Lift. The new lift replaces the original Copper Chair Lift that was installed in 1993. The ski area's lift runs from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The slopes are opendaily through late March.
