Dec 16, 2024
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —Good morning KELOLAND! We are starting the week with mild temperatures and windy weather. You see the wind shaking our Miller LIVE Cam on the video below.
Hit and run, fatal crash, Yankton death
We are also starting the day with some frost on the roads and sidewalks in the Sioux Falls. Temperatures are rising through the 30s, with 40 expected for a high today under mostly sunny skies.
Those wishing for a white Christmas as keeping a close eye on the forecast. The snow cover is pretty good well to our north in Canada, but is lacking in many parts of KELOLAND. That story could change a bit tomorrow.
Futurecast on the video below shows the 30s and 40s today along with the strong wind. Keep an eye on the track of this narrow band of accumulation snow tomorrow. Most of the data keeps the better accumulation north of I-90. While it's not a lot, roads could be slippery as we coat the ground white once again in some areas.
While the snow outlook is not heavy tomorrow, a few locations north of Sioux Falls may pick up an inch or 2 of snow. We'll watch that story and have updates later today.
Don't forget about the cycle of wind returning on Thursday with the clipper system moving in. We are already calling for winds of 40-50 mph.
After another chilly forecast to start the weekend, much milder weather is ahead next week.
Here are the details of the forecast.
