Steven M. Whitten was arrested and charged with eight felony counts of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography.
The arrest followed an investigation by a Digital Forensics Unit who connected with a device on an IP address, involving an individual advertising child sexual abuse material.
This was the second arrest officers in Isle of Wight made relating to child sexual abuse material on Dec. 13. On the same day, a teacher at an Isle of Wight private school was also arrested and is facing several child sexual abuse material charges, deputies said.
A search warrant at Whitten’s home located several electronic devices that were confirmed to contain child sexual abuse material.
Whitten was ordered to be held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on no bond.
