DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- A North Carolina Central University student will soon grace the prestigious Miss America Stage, a platform that has been a launchpad for many successful careers.   Miss North Carolina 2024 Carrie Everett, a talented vocalist and a sophomore at North Carolina Central University, is finalizing preparations for the national competition. NC Central sophomore crowned Miss North Carolina 2024 CBS 17 first reported on Everett when she clinched the state title in June. She plans to showcase her vocal prowess in the talent segment. Everett is eagerly looking forward to the experience and learning opportunities the competition in Orlando will offer. "I am filled with gratitude, and that's the only thing I can think about because of all the people who have poured into me throughout this process. I am excited to meet new people and build new relationships that will last a lifetime," said Everett.    Everett will travel to Orlando for the competition after Christmas and compete in the first week of January.  She is a sophomore at NCCU. If crowned Miss America, she will be the first Miss North Carolina to win the crown since 1962.
