Heavy dense fog affected the area late Sunday night into this Monday morning. Although not as impactful, areas of fog linger in our far northern communities this afternoon. In addition to the AM fog, rain showers raced across the area this morning, bringing a wet start to the day as a weather system moves by. With the warm front of this system nearby, we'll see warmer air flow into the area today with afternoon temps in the 50s. Highs soar into the mid-to-upper 50s. A nice December treat, even with the rain. More rain showers will be possible this afternoon. A warm day with highs in the mid-to-upper 50s. We will also see some gusty moments from the front. Winds may gust up to 35 mph through today, and 30 mph overnight, so be sure to secure those holiday decorations or any loose outdoor objects secured or brought inside. We dry out tonight and colder air builds back with the passage of a cold front. Overall, rain totals for the rest of the day look to be around or less than 0.25" across the area, with the higher amounts relegated to the south and east of Fort Wayne. The Monday afternoon cold front will make way for some sunshine and cooler temperatures on Tuesday. Most clouds we'll see will be upper-level ones. Highs reach the low-to-mid 40s across the area. Cooler, but it certainly isn't 20. The heating units are grateful. Some sunshine and not too cold on Tuesday with highs in the low-to-mid 40s. Temperatures plummet through the remainder of the week along with more chances for rain/snow showers. Accumulation is expected to be minimal at this time.
