(BUENA VISTA, Colo.) — Described by locals as the "beach town in the middle of the mountains," the South Main neighborhood of Buena Vista is home to several small businesses including Joyful Bakery & Coffee, which offers everything from crafty coffee drinks to decadent desserts and plentiful of pastries. FOX21 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister visited the shop and spoke with the Owner, Jenny Feicht, about what makes her small-town business, unique, including its location, directly across from the Arkansas River. "South Main is, kind of the idea of it is, we're a little beach town in the middle of the mountains," described Feicht. "The river being our beachfront and we are right across from the Surf Hotel, so the Surf Hotel is our way of acknowledging that beach life." Feicht said that Joyful Bakery & Coffee recently moved into the location in September and looks forward to welcoming more of the local community and those visiting Buena Vista. "When the tourism picks up again in the summer, we hope to be open later into the evening so we can serve coffee all the way through the afternoon as well as give everybody a sweet treat," Feicht said. Feicht said that she moved to Buena Vista in the fall of 2016 for a job, and added that she quickly fell in love with the community and has stayed in the area ever since. "The people here are wonderful and that is what has really gripped me and held me in this town," explained Feicht, who also said that the access to outdoor activities in Buena Vista is endless. "I mean [we have] paddleboarding, rafting, hiking, mountain biking—there is really an endless opportunity around here." Joyful Bakery & Coffee is located at 801-1B Front Loop, Buena Vista, CO 81211.
