Two men and a juvenile were arrested in Naperville Saturday night in connection with a carjacking that occurred in Schaumburg, police said. Officers sent to the 1800 block of South Washington Street about 7:10 p.m. located a black GMC Acadia that had been reported stolen about an hour earlier, a Naperville police report said. It had been backed into an apartment complex parking space and was running. To prevent the SUV from being driven away, it was blocked in by squad cars, which prompted the three suspects to exit and flee on foot, the report said. Two were apprehended after a short chase and the third, allegedly observed with a firearm in his hand, initially escaped after scaling several fences, according to the police account. With the help of a K-9 dog, they tracked the man — later identified as Ezequiel Lopez-Bey, 22, of Palatine — to a shed in a residential backyard, the report said. The firearm was recovered from another yard where he was allegedly seen going over a fence. Lopez-Bey was charged with receiving, possessing or selling a stolen motor vehicle or essential part; aggravated unlawful use of a weapon; aggravated fleeing and eluding; and resisting a peace officer. The second adult suspect was identified as Andrew B. De Lance, 19, of Arlington Heights, who was charged with receiving, possessing or selling a stolen motor vehicle or essential part and resisting a peace officer. The juvenile was released pending charges being filed in court, the release said. Naperville police credited the Aurora and Shorewood police departments and the Will County Sheriff’s Office with assisting in the arrests.
