"It's on the heels of the pandemic, of the Lahaina fires or the back to back strikes for the hotels, but I think everyone, for the most part, is remaining resilient and positive," stated Ryan Tanaka, Owner of Giovanni Pastrami.
Restaurant owners stated they've had to adapt to changing consumer behavior.
"With hotel prices changing, different attractions, people seeking different experiences, just understanding consumer preference as it changes," said Tanaka, "So, we have online ordering available. We just opened a $15 breakfast buffet, which is one of the best deals in Waikiki."

Other restaruants are keeping annual traditions. Tiki’s Grill & Bar will have their yearly Christmas Bar open until Dec. 24.
"We've had a little slow start for the holiday season and that's why we actually do the Christmas bar here in Waikiki," stated Michael Miller, Tiki’s Grill & Bar Owner.
This year, the Christmas Bar will feature a new attraction.
"One of the neatest things is that we have a Harry Potter-type chair with a sorting hat with some candles over," said Miller. "For the real big super fans, they'll notice the glass owls that are hidden behind that."
Those in the restaurant industry are looking forward to a holiday boost.

"There's 4,000 eating establishments in the state of Hawaii that employ 100,000 people. So, these are your neighbors and friends working at your local restaurant. I encourage our local community to spend their holidays there, you know, make special memories at their favorite eating place and to try somewhere new," stated Tanaka.
