The Battalion Chief told FOX 5/KUSI firefighters were able to douse the fire quickly that they believe started on the outside of the home and was attempting to make its way inside.
The family was not home at the time of the fire and a bystander in the area was able to save the family's dog from the burning home after knocking on the door to make sure no one was inside.
Smoke damage from the fire has temporarily displaced the residents. No injuries were reported.
