It has been a warm and dry day across the Land of Enchantment. Changes in temperature are on the way this week. Very dry air is in place over New Mexico today and it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. This dry air assisted in temperatures climbing this afternoon. Todays highs were well above seasonable averages. The state can expect a small cool down tomorrow as a weak backdoor front moves across eastern New Mexico. This front will only drop temperatures by a few degrees at best. Late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning an upper level trough will dip into New Mexico. This trough will not be bringing any moisture. In fact, the trough will be keeping the dry air in place over New Mexico. The trough will be sending another weak backdoor cold front through the state early Wednesday morning. This front will be dropping temperatures across New Mexico by several degrees Wednesday morning and afternoon. The dry air across New Mexico will remain through the end of the week. Near the end of the week a ridge of high pressure will move over New Mexico. This will cause temperatures across the state to warm up well above seasonable averages.
