CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) -- ASEZ WAO volunteers collaborated with the City of Chesapeake to clean and enhance Southwestern Park on Sunday. The event was part of ASEZ WAO's global "Green Earth Project" initiative, which promotes the protection of the earth's ecosystems and fosters environmental stewardship within communities. Logan Stovall, a six-year member of the group, says it's the least they can do. "It's actually really refreshing and it's amazing to see everybody come together," said Logan S., a volunteer. "It doesn't matter like race, race, religion, culture, ethnicity. It not like none of that even matters when we're out here. We're all alike, we all have one purpose and it's to give back to the community." ASEZ Wao aims to bring awareness to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through various global volunteer projects focused on the environment, per a release. The project helps to maintain green spaces, improve their beauty and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment. To learn more about ASEZ Wao and its initiatives, click here.
