Savona woman arrested on drug charges, Naples man arrested on warrants in Bath

BATH, N.Y. (WETM) -- Two passengers of a car that police pulled over in Bath on Wednesday evening were arrested after police say they found meth and crack cocaine on one of them and discovered the other had warrants.
Stephanie N. Short, 36, of Savona, and Jeremiah P. Mendez, 36, of Naples, New York, were arrested on unrelated charges following a traffic stop. The Village of Bath Police Department stated that officers pulled over the vehicle the pair were passengers in for a traffic violation on Chestnut Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 11.
While the car was stopped, police say they found out that Mendez had multiple warrants for his arrest. Officers arrested Mendez and turned him over to the New York State Police Department.
Four arrested on fentanyl charges in Bath after traffic stop
According to the Bath Police Department, officers continued investigating after taking Mendez into custody and determined that Short had methamphetamine and crack cocaine.
Short was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a class C felony) and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a class A misdemeanor). Short was taken to the Steuben County Jail for her charges to be read in CAP court, and she was released.
Mendez is currently being held at the Steuben County Jail on $4,000 cash bond for the charges of endangering the welfare of a child (a class A misdemeanor), third-degree criminal mischief (a class E felony), and fourth-degree criminal mischief (a class A misdemeanor).
