Angola man arrested after asking for a ride and then shooting at the driver

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- An Angola man was arrested after asking a woman for a ride, and then allegedly shooting at her in her car when she arrived.

Saturday, just after 6:30 p.m. the Steuben County Sheriff's deputies were called to the intersection of CR 850 E and Metz R on calls of a shooting. Deputies had received calls from a woman stating she had been shot while inside her vehicle at a home in the 8500 block of East Metz Road.
When deputies arrived, they found the woman was uninjured, but her vehicle appeared to have damage from a gunshot. At the scene, the woman identified the man who had allegedly shot at her vehicle as 25-year-old Skylar Alan Wilber of Angola.
The woman said that Wilber had asked for a ride, but when she arrived Wilber allegedly came outside the home upset and fired a handgun at the vehicle.
Due to the circumstances, deputies contacted the Steuben County Sheriff's Special Response Tactical Team (SRT) to initiate a search warrant. Just before the warrant was executed, Wilber exited the home and surrendered.
Wilber was taken into custody and in the search of the home officers found suspected Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and evidence indicating a firearm had been discharged.
Wilber was booked at the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges of;
Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a level 5 felony
Possession of Marijuana, a class B misdemeanor
Possession of Paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor
The case remains under investigation.
