WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — The Wareham Police Department said a Plymouth man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly feeing from officers after a traffic stop. 29-year-old Lashii Ortiz was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop for police. He also had two outstanding warrants for armed robbery, assault and battery on a person over sixty-years-old, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, intimidation of a witness, possession with intent to distribute a class A substance, and possession with the intent to distribute a class B substance. Around 2:45 a.m. police stopped Ortiz after allegedly seeing him operating a vehicle with out-of-state plates, as he was previously known to police. He then allegedly fled from officers, and two of his four tires were deflated by police “stop sticks.” He continued to flee police as they pursued at a high speed, and eventually the pursuit was taken over by Massachusetts State Police, who took him into custody in Brockton and transferred him to Wareham custody. Ortiz’s bail was set at $12,000 and he is expected to be arraigned on Dec. 16. Categories: Massachusetts, News
