Rain showers moved across our region today, leaving us with an overcast and wet Sunday. Fort Wayne has recorded over three-quarters of an inch of rain from this system so far. Any rain is welcome across the area as we could certainly use it, and more is on the way! Skies will stay overcast and gloomy into the afternoon, limiting temperature fluctuations. Temps hover in the 40s. Have that umbrella handy for slight rain chances and drizzle chances into the early parts of the afternoon. Better rain chances exit mid-afternoon, leaving opportunities for some drizzle behind and only a slight chance for a rain shower. Better rain chances out by mid-afternoon, drizzle chances may remain.Cloudy still entering in the later parts of the afternoon. We see a break from the rain, and perhaps an occasional clearing or two this evening before more clouds move in. Overnight, temperatures rise as southerly winds and a warm front bring in even warmer air, and more rain showers early Monday morning. Temperatures reach the 50s after sunrise Monday. A warm start to the day. Highs climb into the 50s. It will also be windy with gusts up to 35 mph. More rainfall is to be expected on Monday as the warm sector of the system provides multiple chances for rain showers. In the later parts of the afternoon, a cold front will move through, bringing another chance for rain, and will also bring an end to the 50s as colder air returns to the area. Through Monday, we look to pick up to another half-inch of rain. Some locally higher amounts will be possible in some heavier pockets of Monday rain. Highs amounts may occur southeast of Fort Wayne. Areas of heavier rain will cause locally higher amounts as well. Keep those winter coats handy, as once the cold front passes through Monday afternoon/evening, temperatures tumble for the rest of the workweek. Highs fall to the 40s on Tuesday, and then to the 30s through Friday. Even colder air will be in store for the weekend as more arctic air pushes in then with highs in the 20s.
