ALBEMARLE, N.C. – A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection to the armed robbery of a tobacco and vape shop in Albemarle earlier this week, according to the Albemarle Police Department. Around 3:10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a tobacco and vape shop off US-52 in regards to an armed robbery. Police said a suspect brandished a firearm, took an undisclosed amount of money and left in a vehicle. Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and as they approached, the vehicle fled. A brief pursuit ensued but was called off in the interest of public safety, police said. The vehicle was found again later unoccupied and was seized as evidence. The suspect, Michael Daniel Cochrane was found on Friday, December 13th and was arrested without incident. He has been charged with the following: Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon Fleeing to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
