Louisiana man dead after Alabama crash, officials say

LAMAR COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A New Orleans man died following a crash that occurred late Saturday night in Lamar County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Matthew Belk, 34, was critically injured around 10:58 p.m. when the Dodge Avenger he was operating left a road and hit a tree. The crash happened on Lamar County 16 near Alabama 17. Belk was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
Belk was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries Sunday. Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
