WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after she was rescued from underneath a Metro Red Line train on Saturday, according to D.C. fire officials. Details remain limited; however, in a post on X just after 9 p.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) said a person was alive underneath a train at the Gallery Place Station in Northwest. Firefighters rescued the woman from beneath the train and took her to the hospital with critical injuries. Suspect arrested in connection to series of intentionally set fires in DC, officials say Metrorail called the woman a "trespasser" and said she was struck by the train. After the incident, no trains were running between Farragut North and Judiciary Square. A shuttle bus service was requested for the area. In a later update, Metrorail said trains between Judiciary Square and Farragut North were single-tracking, and riders can expect delays in both directions. For updates from Metro, click here.
