DENVER (KDVR) -- The Aurora Police Department is investigating a shooting Saturday morning with multiple victims reported. Police said the suspected shooter is dead.
The police department said in a post on X that the shooting happened at 10321 East Evans Avenue just before 10:30 a.m.
During a press conference Saturday, Aurora Police Department Chief Todd Chamberlain said the incident was "not a random act" and appeared to be an "act against family members."
Dispatchers received the first call at 10:27 a.m., during which the police department said fighting, yelling and screaming were heard in the background. That call disconnected. Police were en route to the scene when dispatchers received another call saying shots had been fired.
The police department said four people were involved. Officers arrived on the scene at about 10:30 a.m. and said they found a woman in her mid to early 20s and a one-year-old baby on the ground, both had been shot. The woman and baby were both taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Another woman in her mid or early 40s was shot in the hand and crews on the scene provided medical aid.
APD said officers found the suspected shooter dead.
"The officers cleared the apartment, went into a back bedroom, and in the back bedroom they located a male who at this time appears to have self-inflicted with a handgun," Chamberlain said.

"It appears that all of these individuals are family members or are connected in some way, this was not a random act, so again I want to let the community to be aware of that, this was not something that spontaneously happened around this area or this community but it appears to, unfortunately, be an act against family members," Chamberlain said.
Police said there is still plenty of investigating to do to find out what led up to the shooting.
"This event is without question still unfolding there's a lot of questions we have to ask and figure out, but what is very clear is that this is truly a tragedy," Chamberlain said.
"What we don't want to do is write the narrative before we actually investigate the entire scene. This scene is going to be processed as any other homicide scene and that is going to be incredibly meticulous," Chamberlain added.
The investigation remains active and is ongoing.
