76ers’ Jared McCain out indefinitely with knee meniscus tear

The hits just keep on coming for the Philadelphia 76ers, even when they think they’ve dodged one.
The team announced Saturday afternoon that rookie guard Jared McCain has a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee. It will require surgery and will sideline the Rookie of the Year candidate indefinitely.
McCain took a hard fall in the second half of Friday night’s loss to the Indiana Pacers, but returned to the game after being evaluated for a concussion. He reported left knee soreness after the game, and an MRI found the knee issue that requires surgical correction.
McCain, the 16th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, had averaged 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He’s filled in capably as Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Joel Embiid all took turns out with injuries.
He joins Embiid one the shelf, after the center took an arm to the face Friday night and was diagnosed with a sinus fracture.
