MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A seven-year-old tragically lost her life after accidentally shooting herself on Saturday, Memphis Police said.
At 7:52 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of Whispering Lane.
A female juvenile was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police said that preliminary information indicates that this was an accidental self-inflicting shooting.

A neighbor who wished to remain anonymous told WREG that she is a registered nurse and after the shooting, the mother ran to her apartment screaming for help.
The neighbor said she tried to save the child with CPR but arrived too late.
No arrests have been made but this is an ongoing investigation.
Memphis resident Ben Robinson spoke with WREG and urged parents to prioritize gun safety training.
"The first thing I learned as a child was don't touch anything that is not yours," Robinson said. "They (parents) haven't gotten that message to these kids. I was afraid to touch anything that belonged to my mother and my father and the guns were the one thing I knew I couldn't touch."
