PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Seven people are displaced after crews knocked down a fire at a home on Vernon Street in Providence Saturday morning.
Battalion Chief Dan Corneao said the fire was on the third floor of the home in a kitchen area.

The second and third floor were damaged by water and smoke. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced people.
Corneao said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
