Twoalarm fire in Gert Town damages Earhart Boulevard building

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department is investigating a two-alarm fire in the Gert Town neighborhood.
According to NOFD firefighters, on Saturday morning, Dec. 14 around 2:08 a.m., they were called to the scene of a fire at the corner of Earhart Boulevard and Fern Street.

The first unit arrived at 2:12 a.m. to find a business fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters add that the flames also damaged a second business, The Hidden Vault, and was a possible threat to other nearby businesses.
A second alarm was called and a search was done to guarantee no extensive damage had been done to the other buildings.
A total of 16 NOFD units carrying 42 personnel were able to get the fire under control by 3 a.m.

Surrounding businesses did receive varying degrees of smoke and water damage, according to NOFD.
There were no injuries reported by firefighters or the public. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as NOFD officials say it was "very suspicious."
