HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Aloha Bears have just released their 2025 calendar. It's a highly anticipated fundraising initiative that blends community spirit, local culture and a touch of island flair. This unique calendar showcases the group’s vibrant members and aims to raise money for several important local charities in Hawaiʻi. A portion of the proceeds benefits organizations like Gregory House and Safehaus Wellness Center, to name only a few. "They were approached by someone who asked why the Bears didn’t have a calendar. We thought it was a great idea.” The first edition of the calendar raised funds for local charities, and Francione is thrilled about the success. “Last year, everything came together in a bit of a time crunch. But this year, we were able to plan ahead, and here we are with the 2025 calendar in hand,” he added. The calendar features a collection of photographs taken on location around Oʻauh and showcases not only the members of the Aloha Bears but also the beauty of Oʻahu. Francione emphasized how much effort went into creating the calendar. “We worked with Eric Z. Martin, a talented photographer who does a lot of work for LGBTQ+ sports teams and events in Hawaiʻi," he said. "He volunteered his time to capture the images for our calendar. All the photoshoots were done here, in perfect Hawaiian weather,” he said. The calendars are available for purchase for $25 with all proceeds going directly to the charities supported by the Aloha Bears. “We’ve already sold 100 calendars in just a few weeks. Our goal is to sell all 250 we’ve ordered. We sold out last year, so we’re optimistic about meeting our target this time,” he explained. For those who may be wondering about the appeal of this limited-edition calendar, Francione made it clear: “It’s not something you can just find on Amazon. This is a locally produced calendar, made here in Hawaiʻi, with photos taken here. It’s rare and special.” He also pointed out that each month’s photo includes details about the location where it was shot which adds a personal touch for those familiar with the island. With the holidays fast approaching, Francione believes the calendar makes for the perfect gift. “It’s great for stocking stuffers, especially with Christmas and Kwanzaa and Hanukkah right around the corner," he said. "It’s a unique gift that not only supports a good cause but also celebrates the beauty of Hawaiʻi and the spirit of the Aloha Bears." We’ve already exceeded last year’s sales, and we’re hoping for even more success this time around," Francione concluded. "The money raised will go directly back into our community, supporting the LGBTQ+ organizations and initiatives that need it most."
