Local organizations are making sure our neighbors in western North Carolina have a place to call home for the holidays. Lowe’s is partnering with Habitat for Humanity and Home Builders Association of Greater Charlotte to build 16 tiny homes for families who’ve lost everything during Hurricane Helene. The homes are equipped with a fully working bathroom, a kitchen and a sleeping space for up to four people as well. The goal is to deliver these homes by next week. Organizers say they want to make sure no one is left in the cold this Christmas. “This is meant to be, again, a temporary solution, especially during the wintertime so that people stay safe and warm on their own property so that they can rebuild,” Lowe’s Julie Yenichek said. Those homes are slated for distribution in Avery and Buncombe counties.
