One of three Edward Jones branches in Austin has found a new home and the advisors and staff at the branch couldn’t be happier. Advisors Kristine Jorgenson and Aaron Brack, as well branch administrators Amanda Corey and Denise Kubicek, have relocated from its southwest Austin location to its new location at 300 West Oakland Avenue Suite 1. It opened in its new spot in October of this year. “The location was really great. We love being on Oakland Avenue,” Jorgenson said, who has been at the branch since 2014. “Visibility is really the biggest thing I’ve heard as feedback from my clients is they like the location. They really like this space.” Likewise, Brack, who came to town in 2021, said the location is ideal considering its proximity to the heart of Austin. “Being closer to downtown, I think, was pretty important for me,” he said. “Being directly downtown, you wouldn’t have been able to get windows in all of the offices so being very accessible to that and not being right on Main Street was important.” The idea of moving the location started formulating between Jorgenson and Brack, the latter of which previously worked out of the location at 1405 15th Avenue NW B. “The big part of it was we were talking at one of our colleagues’ retirement parties and kind of just looking toward the future and asking what’s going to make the most sense for us,” Brack said. “It seemed to work out the best to be able to say okay, let’s look for a little bit better space because we want to continue to grow.” While the idea of moving the location has been on the books for a couple years now, moving to this precise location has only really come about in the last year. “It was really hard to find a space because a lot of what came on the market was too big or too small,” Brack said. “There wasn’t a lot of opportunity. We were looking for 1,800 to 2,000 square feet and we were running into 900 or 3,000. That’s an issue that’s being talked about in the city. We just got lucky enough that this came available” Prior to Edward Jones, the location was the site of Wellness 1st Chiropractic, which has moved its business to 204 Fourth Street SW. When Jorgenson and Brack took over the site, the entire place was gutted starting in September and lasting until Oct. 31 when they finally moved in. All told, among the three branches, there are five financial advisors. Jorgenson and Brack hope to add a third to their location and bring that total up to six. Both said that adding another advisor would be more akin to bolstering the overall team presence in the community. “Edward Jones, we don’t see each other; the other Edward Jones advisors in town. We’re not competing against each other,” Jorgenson said. “We really want to be seen as a team together. That was a big reason as to why we wanted to come into an office together so the community sees us as a team rather than individual advisors.” It was also important to use local contractors as they turned to Joshua Parks Construction, LLC. “That was really important to us. Making sure we were doing that because it’s important to give back to the community you work in,” Brack said. Both Jorgenson and Brack hope that the new site is a welcoming place for clients when they come in and that it reflects the work they do for their financial stability. That’s important, especially considering that world of financial planning has become more complex as they work with other groups in order to further that financial reach. “We see that become a much bigger part of our business moving forward so we need the space to be able  to do that and yet able to have a comfortable and welcoming space to sit one-on-one with our client as well,” Jorgenson said.
