It is a cold start to the weekend, with morning temps in the upper teens and lower 20s across the area. It is certainly winter coat material outside. Skies are filled with upper-level clouds for now, but more clouds are on the way, marking the approach of the first of two weather systems we'll see this weekend. At least during the day, we'll be free of rain chances. Temperatures today will be warmer than Thursday and Friday, with highs reaching the upper 30s for Fort Wayne under mostly cloudy skies. While still cold, it will certainly be warmer than previous days. The first of two weather systems will arrive early in the evening, bringing rain showers to our southwestern communities by 5 PM. The rain will spread throughout the area into the overnight, bringing steady rainfall to the area. While most will be in the mid-to-upper 30s as the rain spreads throughout, places such as Angola and Bryan may still be around freezing as the rain falls, which will be a recipe for freezing rain. This will only last for a couple of hours as temperatures rise overnight, but keep in mind freezing rain can become a major road hazard. Elsewhere, rain can still cause slick roads.
