Rising temperatures, soaking rainfall through early next week
Dec 14, 2024
It is a cold start to the weekend, with morning temps in the upper teens and lower 20s across the area. It is certainly winter coat material outside. Skies are filled with upper-level clouds for now, but more clouds are on the way, marking the approach of the first of two weather systems we'll see this weekend.
At least during the day, we'll be free of rain chances. Temperatures today will be warmer than Thursday and Friday, with highs reaching the upper 30s for Fort Wayne under mostly cloudy skies.
While still cold, it will certainly be warmer than previous days.
The first of two weather systems will arrive early in the evening, bringing rain showers to our southwestern communities by 5 PM. The rain will spread throughout the area into the overnight, bringing steady rainfall to the area.
While most will be in the mid-to-upper 30s as the rain spreads throughout, places such as Angola and Bryan may still be around freezing as the rain falls, which will be a recipe for freezing rain. This will only last for a couple of hours as temperatures rise overnight, but keep in mind freezing rain can become a major road hazard. Elsewhere, rain can still cause slick roads. Drive safe this weekend!
Cloudy with rain showers encroaching as sunset hits.Areas of freezing rain possible in our far northern counties. Temperatures will rise overnight.Rain continuing into early Sunday morning.
The warning trend will continue into Sunday with more chances for rain showers, mainly in the morning. Highs reach the mid-40s. Our second weekend weather system passes through overnight Sunday, where once more, temperatures rise throughout the night.
High temps increase over the weekend.
Our warmest day will be Monday with highs in the mid-50s as we enter the warm sector of a warm front of a weather system. More rain showers will be in store as well.
Rainfall through this weekend and into Monday will be plentiful, with around 1.5" of rain, and some spots could surpass 2 inches.
Multiple rain chances over the next few days will provide beneficial rainfall across the area.
After this wet start to the week, a cold front passes through, cooling us back down steadily through the workweek, with 30s for highs by Thursday. 20s return next weekend.
