CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Construction is underway for a new business in Clovis at the Crossroads Shopping Center. A Starbucks was already confirmed to be making its way to the area of Bullard and Minnewawa avenues in Clovis. As construction at the shopping center continues, small business employees throughout the lot have taken notice. Drive-Thru only Starbucks to open in Fresno "There was a little business office, it had a few things in there I don't recall. But it had a few shops in it," said Judy Coons, a Hopeland Thrift employee. They say a big name in the lot means big business for everyone. "Nobody knows we're back here in the corner. They don't know about some of the other shops here that we do new customers like crazy," said Coons. Even shops that are closer to the street like Prestige Barbershop agree that the traffic of a Starbucks drive-thru can bring much-needed exposure and more to the lot. "I haven't seen a single coffee shop in a lot since we've been here," said barber Mario Rodriguez. "So it's a plus for us as guys in the shop." Fellow barber Jacob Vasquez says a mom-and-pop coffee shop would have been another welcome addition to the lot among, all the other small businesses, but Coons says the Starbucks name makes the difference in her eyes. "I don't think the mom and pop would bring anything here. I think Starbucks will. We've been here for almost two years and, still working on clientele. I'm sorry about the mom-and-pop thing, but I don't think it would do good on the corner," said Coons. The company tells YourCentralValley.com that the new Starbucks will be opening at 10 W. Bullard Avenue in Clovis in the summer of 2025.
