SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)--The Springfield Garden Club kicked off the holiday season with a fundraiser for a new conservatory at Forest Park. The theme of Friday's event was “Celebrating the December Holidays with Honored Guests-Tablescapes that Celebrate the Season." Festival of Trees ends Sunday, last chance to purchase raffle tickets The Monkey House at Forest Park was decorated with tables designed for a variety of holiday meal celebrations. Members of the club chose a person to invite and then created a holiday table setting designed with a particular guest in mind. Themes included games, books and poems, famous characters and artists, and holiday traditions. "This is a chance for our members to share with the entire community their love of growing things and of design," said Vana Nespor, District Director for the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. The tablescapes display will be open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $25 for families up to 6 people. All proceeds will go to a fund for the building of a new conservatory in Forest Park.
